First day up and running! Feel free to leave comments below each of the posts in this blog.
Overview for the next few days:
In the coming days the seven elements of art (detailed below) will be displayed:
Line - A mark that travels from one point to another taking any form along the way.
Form - Appears three dimensional and is represented by length, width, and height. It can be enhanced by tone, texture, and color.
Value - Refers to the use of light and dark. Highlights, mid-tones, shadows, and cast
shadows may all show up as different intensities of the same color. Essentially, Value is the darkness or lightness of an object depending on how the object is shown.
Texture - The tactile quality of a surface or what a surface appears to feel like. The three basic types of texture are actual, simulated, and invented texture. Lines and shading are used to create different textures.
Color - The use of hue in artwork and design. A color has three parts: hue: color name, intensity: strength and purity, and value: lightness and darkness.
Space - The creation of visual perspective, and the illusion of depth; the distance around, between, above, below, and within an object or group of objects. A space may take up a three dimensional or two dimensional space and encompasses the foreground, middle ground, and background.
Shape - A two dimensional figure represented by length and width and defined by edges and any other element of art. Shapes can be defined as organic or geometric in nature.
and after that... Well, the future is undecided...
